Danny Maggard , LPC

Danny Maggard is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who combines formal training in clinical mental health counseling with extensive experience in emergency services. He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and completed undergraduate studies that include a Bachelor of Science with coursework in biology, criminology, sociology, and psychology at Drury University, as well as an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice. He brings more than two decades of service in firefighting, emergency management, and law enforcement to his therapeutic work, and he has provided counseling and case management in correctional and treatment settings for over three years.

In clinical practice he uses evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, psycho-educational methods, client-centered approaches, and solution-focused strategies. He approaches counseling as a collaborative alliance in which clients are regarded as the experts on their own lives; within that partnership he helps clients identify strengths, set realistic goals, and practice skills between sessions. He emphasizes accountability and active participation, offering structured treatment planning, crisis and behavioral interventions, and therapeutic groups when appropriate.

Danny works with a broad range of concerns including addictions, trauma and abuse, grief, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety and stress, anger management, first responder issues and PTSD, ADHD, codependency, relationship and life-purpose questions, and challenges related to aging. His practice supports clients working through life transitions, recovery from substance use, and the development of coping strategies to improve everyday functioning.
